Nature detectives

It doesn't take much detective work to find lots of natural interest and beauty at our local botanic gardens. We met with a couple of other families here earlier in the week and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon picnicking, playing and generally exploring.

Daffodil carpets.

Houses for beneficial insects. This is on my 'to do' list.

A very active beehive nestled behind the rose hip hedge. We watched as dozens of bees came in and out. There was lots of activity and much fanning around the entrance. I suspect that providing we don't get too much rain this summer someone may pick up a decent yield there in that spot. Bees are still on my 'to do' list too - but not for a while yet I think.

Tropical swamps, bamboo and dripping leaf tips.
